The Letter

Note: I’ve mentioned this letter a few times and have had numerous people request a copy of it. I’ve included the story below as well as a printable version of it. Feel free to print and share. May it encourage you and let you breathe deeply. It will all be ok.

Did you ever wish you could go back and tell your younger self something? I accidentally did the opposite and sent a message to my future self. Let me explain.

A couple of years ago, I ran across something unexpected: a letter I had written to myself. It was even personalized with a “dear Kinda” at the top. I had written it at least a year prior to that, and quite honestly, I had absolutely no recollection of it.

As I read the words, it was the strangest feeling. I technically knew I had written it, but it was as if I were reading it for the first time.

I don’t know if I had meant it for a previous or future time. Whatever the case, it couldn’t have come at a better time. As I read through the letter, I started crying. It felt as if a load were lifting. It was a reminder that everything would be okay.

I’ve gone back and read the letter countless times over the months that have followed. It’s a reminder to not be so hard on myself. I truly believe the message is God’s heart for us, and I hope it helps you smile.
